Stairlift Frequently Asked Questions

We have listed some of the most frequently asked questions below. If you cannot find the answer to your question please call our customer service team on 0800 043 3426 who will be happy to help you.

Staircases are put into 2 main categories, straight and curved, depending on the rail that is required for your stairlift. If you have a straight set of stairs you will need a straight stairlift. If your staircase has any bends, curves or corners you will need a curved stair lift. If you are unsure please call us and we will be able to advise you.

As a guide, our Rental straight stairlifts start from £10.00 per week, with a £395.00 install charge and curved stairlifts start from £17.50 a week with a £1500.00 install charge. Our Reconditioned Stairlifts start from £750.00.

Most stairlifts are made up of three main components: a rail, a carriage and a seat. The carriage of the stairlift contains the motor/gearbox which powers the lift up and down the rail or track. The stairlift seat is fitted to the carriage which swivels round when it reaches the top and has the controls on the arms.

Yes, curved stairlifts are made specifically to fit your staircase and can tackle a range of bends and staircase angles.

Battery run stairlifts use around 24 volts to power an electric motor; this makes them quiet and energy efficient to use. Your new stairlift will be quiet enough to use day and night without disturbing anyone else in the house.

The majority of stairlifts can be fitted in just an hours with the minimum of disruption. As our stairlifts are fitted directly to the stairs and not the wall the process becomes very quick and simple. A curved stairlift takes a little bit longer than a straight stairlift but can still be fitted within a few hours.

If you order a straight stairlift we will usually have it in stock and could even fit it the next day depending on the engineers availability. If you require a curved stairlift we will have to have the track manufactured to suit your stair configuration, therefore installation time would usually be within 10days of receiving your order.

All our new and reconditioned stairlifts have at least a 12 months warranty. We also offer service contracts which can be purchased for all lifts and offer that extra peace of mind.

Yes. The stairlifts have a folding seat, footrest and arms, so when it’s not in use it tucks neatly against the wall. It will also be parked at the top or bottom of the staircase allowing full access to the stair way.

We have a wide variety of stairlifts which can accommodate the majority of staircases. We offer a FREE no obligation quote where the engineer will be able to assess the suitability of your staircase.

This can occur if more than one person uses the stairlift. However, there is an easy solution. All stairlifts come with remote controls which are positioned at the top and bottom of the stairs so the lift can be called up or down.

A stairlift\’s speed is quite slow, travelling up to a maximum rated speed of 0.15 meters per second (0.34 mph) this ensures a safe, comfortable ride.
